The leadership change comes after a challenging time for the retail behemoth, when its operations reached a record low. The shelves of many of its stores were almost completely empty due to significant stock shortages. But after getting a bailout from important partners, the company’s circumstances have improved, enabling it to replenish and carry on with business as usual.

Three senior executives left OK Zimbabwe through voluntary separation agreements, the company stated in a statement.

“The company has concluded voluntary separation agreements with the following directors: Supply Chain Director Knox Mupaya, Chief Financial Officer Phillimon Mushosho, and CEO Maxen Phillip Karombo, effective immediately,” stated company secretary Margaret Munyuru.

Three previous executives with a wealth of business knowledge have been restored by the company’s board in a calculated attempt to spur recovery. Supply Chain Director Muzvidzwa Richard Chingaira, CFO Alex Edgar Siyavora, and CEO Willard Vimbai Zireva are all returning to their prior positions.

Zireva, who oversaw OK Zimbabwe for more than 20 years, is generally acknowledged for having transformed the business into one of the top retail chains in the nation. His return indicates that operations stabilization, supplier confidence restoration, and customer trust building are priorities.

According to New Zimbabwe, the returning executives will manage operations for the next six months as the board looks for permanent replacements, Munyuru said, underscoring the company’s dedication to long-term recovery.

Munyuru stated, “The board expresses gratitude to the departing executive team for their service during this difficult time.” “While the company looks for permanent executive replacements, we welcome back the returning team, who will stabilize and turn the business around over the next six months.”

The change in leadership comes at a crucial moment for OK Zimbabwe, which is trying to recover from recent setbacks and solidify its place in the cutthroat retail industry.
