First Mutual Holdings, a leading Zimbabwean financial services group, has unveiled a new medical center in Southerton, Harare. This marks the 14th such facility opened by the company nationwide, showcasing its commitment to bolstering Zimbabwe’s healthcare landscape.

The official opening ceremony was graced by the presence of the Minister of State for Harare Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Senator Charles Tavengwa, represented by Permanent Secretary Cosmas Chiringa. In his remarks, Mr. Chiringa lauded First Mutual for its dedication to public health, calling the new clinic “a beacon of hope” and a testament to a comprehensive approach to healthcare delivery.

“It is a milestone in First Mutual’s expansion strategy and a dedication to complementing the Government’s efforts towards achieving Vision 2030,” he said. Zimbabwe’s Vision 2030 aims to transform the nation into an empowered and prosperous upper-middle-income society by 2 030, with universal access to healthcare being a key pillar.

First Mutual representatives emphasized that the Southerton clinic’s services are open to everyone, regardless of membership status. “We are supporting the national agenda in terms of bringing accessible and affordable healthcare to the community,” said Ms. Farayi Mangwende, Group Marketing and Strategy Executive for First Mutual Holdings.
First Mutual Life and Health Cluster Chief Executive, Mr Rueben Java said the medical centre will help in ensuring quality health care for Zimbabweans.
“This medical center is one of 14 healthcare facilities we’ve opened across the country since 2022,” he highlighted. “This signifies our vision of providing greater access to quality healthcare services for a wider range of Zimbabweans.”
“This is a realization of our vision that we can give more access to a greater number of people within Zimbabwe to quality healthcare services,” he said.
