Jamboo,  a fintech company co-founded by Zimbabwean entrepreneurs Takwana Tyaranini and Innocent Chinyama, has launched its fundraising campaign on Crowdcube, the UK’s largest crowdfunding platform. The campaign begins a milestone for Jamboo, positioning it as the first Zimbabwean-founded fintech company to raise capital on Crowdcube.

Jamboo aims to enhance financial access for African expatriates

According to a report by newzimbabwe, Jamboo’s mission is to revolutionize financial access for African expatriates, particularly targeting the African diaspora in the UK, with plans for broader European expansion. The fintech startup aims to offer bespoke online banking and investment services that meet the unique needs of expatriates, while also extending support across Africa.

“Fundraising on Crowdcube represents a pivotal moment for Jamboo and the future of digital banking for Africa,” said Takwana Tyaranini, Jamboo’s COO. “This opportunity allows us to scale our services and meet the growing needs of the African diaspora.” With Crowdcube’s track record of backing startups like Monzo and Revolut, Jamboo is poised to make an impact by providing transparent, affordable cross-border financial solutions.

Innovative app features designed for cross-border flexibility

The Jamboo app, already live in the UK, provides innovative financial solutions tailored to the African diaspora. The app allows customers to open UK bank accounts, send money to any UK account, and top up mobile phones globally with clear transaction fees. Jamboo is set to launch Mastercard-powered virtual cards in the coming weeks, enhancing users’ cross-border transaction options. The app, available on iOS and Android, includes a quick onboarding process and offers members a companion card for seamless management of their finances across borders.

Crowdcube, known for raising over £1.4 billion and supporting disruptive startups, offers Jamboo access to a network of 1.7 million investors. This campaign positions Jamboo to further establish itself in the fintech sector, promoting financial inclusion and ease for African expatriates.
