Two people were killed and three others seriously injured in an accident at Goldry Mining Syndicate in Bindura on Saturday, Zimbabwe Republic Police have confirmed.
Police said the incident happened during blasting operations at the mine. Police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the accident on Monday.
“The ZRP confirms a fatal mine accident which occurred on 17/10/26 at Goldry Mining Syndicate, Bindura, where two people died while three others were seriously injured during blasting operations at the mine,” he said.
Victims taken to hospital
The bodies of the two victims were taken to Bindura Hospital for post-mortem examinations. The three injured were referred to Howard Hospital for treatment.
Meanwhile, police did not release the victims’ names or say what caused the accident. The company has not commented in the source report.
