Bellarmine Chatunga Mugabe, the youngest son of Zimbabwe’s late former president Robert Mugabe, and four other suspects have been remanded in custody pending a bail application following their appearance before the Harare Magistrates Court.

The 29-year-old appeared in court on Thursday, November 5, 2026, alongside Terrence Johannes Chinyemba, Fredson Peter, Solomon Pamire and Munashe Mubhawo.

The five men are facing charges of robbery and malicious damage to property over an alleged attack at Brompton Guest Lodge in Harare. They are expected to return to court for their bail hearing.

Alleged Attack at Harare Guest Lodge

According to the prosecution, the incident occurred on November 3 at about 6:30 p.m. at Brompton Guest Lodge, where the complainant was reportedly carrying out surveillance duties.

The complainant, identified in other reports as 42-year-old Panyika Lloyd Mupanduki, was allegedly confronted by the five accused men, who were also staying at the lodge.

Prosecutors allege that the men assaulted him with open hands and broomsticks, leaving him with a deep cut to his forehead and causing heavy bleeding.

The prosecution further alleges that one of the accused took the complainant’s loaded Norinco Star pistol, while his Samsung A56 mobile phone was taken and smashed on the ground.

Police arrested the five suspects following the incident. The firearm was reportedly recovered from Chinyemba, who is listed as the second accused.

Four Accomplices Identified

The four men arrested alongside Chatunga have been identified as Terrence Johannes Chinyemba, Fredson Peter, Solomon Pamire and Munashe Mubhawo.

Court documents reportedly indicate that Chinyemba, Peter and Pamire worked as security guards at Iron Mask Farm in Mazowe, while Mubhawo was described as a security aide.

Chatunga is represented by lawyers Tabison Bvekwa and Theophilus Mubhemi.

The five suspects were remanded in custody pending their bail application. They have not been convicted of the charges, and the allegations against them remain before the court.
