The Premier Soccer League, Yadah FC has emerged victorious in the high-stakes pursuit of forward Khama Billiat, outmaneuvering rivals including Dynamos and several other clubs to sign the celebrated player. The PHD Ministries-owned team, affectionately known as the Miracle Boys, has reportedly agreed to a dazzling deal, committing over US$50,000 in signing fees and a generous monthly salary of US$5,000 for Billiat on a one-year contract.

Billiat’s return to Zimbabwe was met with fanfare, as Yadah officials, including CEO Admire Mango and chairperson Everson Chatambudza, greeted him with a lavish welcome at the Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport on Tuesday night. The scene was a disappointment for Dynamos supporters who had gathered in anticipation of Billiat joining their ranks, especially after rumors last week suggested an agreement was in place.

The chase for Billiat’s signature turned into a competitive bidding war, with Yadah ultimately outbidding other interested parties. Manica Diamonds and Ngezi Platinum Stars were among the contenders, with Manica Diamonds reportedly offering US$20,000 in signing fees and a monthly salary of US$4,000—figures that still fell short of Yadah’s final offer. Photographs of Billiat alongside Yadah benefactor Scott Sakupwanya and associate Mike Chimombe confirmed the deal, dashing the hopes of Dynamos and their fans. Despite speculation to the contrary, a club insider confirmed Billiat’s one-year commitment to Yadah, dismissing rumors of a potential loan to Dynamos.

Billiat, a free agent after parting ways with South Africa’s Kaizer Chiefs, where he was the top earner with a monthly salary surpassing R850,000, brings a wealth of experience and skill to Yadah FC. His decision not to renew his contract with Kaizer Chiefs, following unsatisfactory negotiation terms, has opened a new chapter in his illustrious career. As Yadah FC prepares for a “mega unveiling” of their new star, the Premier Soccer League community watches with keen interest. The club has opted to delay the event to avoid clashing with the league’s sponsorship unveiling, showcasing their consideration for the broader soccer fraternity.

Yadah FC is set to begin their Premier League campaign with an away match against Hwange next week. However, given Billiat’s seven-month hiatus from professional play, it’s unlikely he will make his debut in this initial matchup. This significant acquisition by Yadah FC not only enhances their competitive edge in the upcoming season but also signifies the club’s ambition and financial commitment to elevating their status in Zimbabwean football. Billiat’s arrival promises to bring excitement and flair to the Miracle Boys’ lineup, as fans eagerly await the impact of his vast experience and talent on the field.
