Zanu PF disciplines war veteran for criticizing Mnangagwa’s leadership
Party spokesperson Christopher Mutsvangwa called Geza’s comments “rogue, outlandish, treasonable, and egregious” in a statement released on Wednesday.
In a news conference, Geza and five other veterans of the war called Mnangagwa a failure as a leader and called for his immediate resignation. His remarks have caused unrest inside the party, and Zanu PF officials have swiftly condemned them.
Mutsvangwa stated that the errant Runesu Geza’s outrageous, treasonous, and atrocious outbursts violated the sacred principles of party discipline for a Central Committee member.
Party vows to uphold discipline and take action
He warned that the case was being handled by the party’s disciplinary bodies and accused Geza of trying to mislead organizations that support war veterans.
According to New Zimbabwe, Mutsvangwa reaffirmed Zanu PF’s commitment to carrying out Resolution #1 of the 2024 National People’s Conference, which upholds Mnangagwa’s leadership for a period longer than the two terms allowed by the constitution.
He declared, “The party membership is still steadfastly committed to President Mnangagwa and has complete faith in the legal execution of Resolution #1.”
