Zimbabwean Diaspora Urged to Embrace Sustainable Solar Home Designs

Imagination Factory Showcases Innovative Technology at UK Property Expo

by Victor Adetimilehin

Zimbabwean expatriates in the UK are being encouraged to consider building sustainable and energy-efficient homes back home by utilizing solar architecture. This push for innovation comes ahead of the upcoming Zim Diaspora Property Showcase scheduled for July 13th in the UK.

A Focus on Future-Proof Homes

Julian Swan, a prominent industrial design consultant and founder of Imagination Factory, is a strong advocate for solar architectural designs. He believes these designs offer a practical solution to address the well-documented energy challenges in Zimbabwe, particularly for those building properties remotely.

“We see a significant opportunity to showcase our advancements in Future Solar technology,” Swan said in a recent interview. “Our approach focuses on prefabricated, modular buildings that integrate solar power seamlessly. This would be ideal for the Zimbabwean market and potentially other Sub-Saharan African countries struggling with energy security.”

Swan highlights several advantages of solar architecture for the Zimbabwean diaspora community. Firstly, the modular design allows for quick construction, making it suitable for those managing projects from afar. Pre-fabricated components ensure a level of quality control throughout the building process, reducing the risk of delays or unforeseen issues. Finally, the integrated solar panels provide a sustainable energy source, reducing reliance on the national grid and potentially lowering electricity costs in the long run.
