A horrifying incident has shocked the community of Limpopo province, South Africa. A Zimbabwean woman, Locadia Ndlovhu, and her friend, Maria Makgato, were brutally murdered, and their bodies were allegedly fed to pigs on a farm. The gruesome event took place last week at Onvervaght Farm in Sebayeng, just outside Polokwane.
Locadia Ndlovhu, a 35-year-old woman from Zimbabwe whose district of origin is still unknown, was at the farm with her South African friend, Maria Makgato, who was 45 years old. They were reportedly scavenging for discarded food at the farm’s dumpsite when the tragic event occurred. Ndlovhu’s husband, Mabutho Ncube, was also present during the incident. He managed to escape with serious injuries and later recounted the harrowing ordeal.
According to the accounts, the farm owner, 60-year-old Zachariah Olivier, along with his two employees, Adriaan de Wet, 19, and William Musoro, a 45-year-old Zimbabwean national, were involved in the incident. They have all been charged and appeared at the Mankweng Magistrates Court facing multiple serious charges. These include murder, attempted murder, possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition, and defeating the ends of justice. Additionally, Musoro faces a separate charge for violating the Immigration Act.
The local authorities, led by the Limpopo police, have been investigating this case closely. The police spokesperson for the Limpopo province, Colonel Malesela Ledwaba, confirmed that the suspects were arrested after the bodies of the two women were found decomposed in a pigsty on the farm. The arrests were made on August 20, following a comprehensive investigation carried out by the Provincial Tracking Team and the Murder and Robbery Unit. The investigation began after Makgato, the South African woman, went missing on August 17. She had visited the farm with Ndlovhu, the Zimbabwean woman, and Ncube, who survived despite being shot.
The nature of the crime has sparked outrage and disbelief among the local community and beyond. The discovery that the victims’ remains were allegedly fed to pigs after being killed has left many in shock. The executive mayor of Capricorn District Municipality, Mamedupi Teffo, expressed deep concern over the incident. He condemned the brutality of the act and emphasized the community’s determination to see justice served. Teffo also announced plans for a public demonstration at the next court appearance of the accused, scheduled for August 30, to ensure that the suspects do not receive bail.
