While hunting for armed robbery suspects in the Harbek neighborhood of Pumula South on Thursday night, a Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) investigator was shot and murdered, according to the police.

Constable Detective A member of the ZRP Homicide squad of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID), Cassandra Hove, suffered a deadly wound while performing her duties. The shooting is being investigated by the authorities.
Commissioner Paul Nyathi, the national spokesperson for ZRP, acknowledged the occurrence in a statement and stated that investigators are investigating Hove’s death.
“The public is reassured that thorough investigations are being conducted to determine what happened, and the Commissioner-General of Police, Stephen Mutamba, extends his condolences to the Hove family,” Nyathi stated.
According to New Zimbabwe, Hove’s passing serves as a reminder of the growing dangers Zimbabwean law enforcement agents confront when combating violent crime. Police encounters with well-armed criminal gangs have increased in recent years, leading to an increase in armed robberies.

“There is no turning back in the fight against armed robberies and other violent crimes in the country,” Nyathi stated on behalf of the Zimbabwe Republic Police.
