Comoros and Zimbabwe took decisive steps towards advancing in the 2024 HOLLYWOODBETS COSAFA Women’s Championship, with both teams securing crucial wins in Gqeberha, South Africa.

In a move to solidify their positions in the tournament, Comoros aims to maintain momentum against Zambia, while Zimbabwe seeks favorable results from other matches to enhance their chances of progression to the knockout phase.


Comoros, Zimbabwe secure historic Win 

The Comoros Islands advanced their semi-final hopes with a historic 3-1 victory over Angola in Group C. Goals from Alicia Chanfi, Haloua Ahamada, and Nasrati Ali set the stage for a crucial clash against Zambia on Tuesday, where a win or draw would secure their spot in the last four. Angola’s elimination followed a disappointing tournament, with Maria Ponda’s late goal offering only a consolation.

In Group D, Zimbabwe revived their knockout hopes with a 3-0 win over Lesotho.
After a penalty miss from Alice Moyo, Ethel Chinyeree broke the deadlock in the 60th minute. Though Privilege Mupeti had a goal ruled out for offside, Christabell Katona sealed the win shortly after. Zimbabwe’s progress now hinges on the result of the Lesotho vs. Mozambique match.

Upcoming Group Deciders

Day seven of the tournament will feature crucial group-deciding matches. In Group B, Madagascar faces Botswana and Mauritius takes on Malawi, both games kicking off simultaneously at 12:00 at Wolfson and Madibaz Stadiums, respectively. Later in the day, Group A deciders will see Eswatini battle Namibia at Wolfson, while South Africa faces Seychelles at Madibaz Stadium at 15:00.
