According to officials, a 37-year-old man has been taken into custody on suspicion of killing his wife, niece, and the head of their village over the course of two days.
Suspect arrested after brutal killings in Hurungwe
Trymore Tore, the suspect, is charged with attacking the three victims in Mubairecheni Village, Chundu, Hurungwe, resulting in their deaths.
Preliminary investigations show that Tore and his wife had ongoing marital conflicts, according to police spokesperson Paul Nyathi. Kuwesu Masawu, 56, the leader of the community, was reportedly caught up in the fighting while trying to mediate.
The corpses were found on February 17.

About 60 meters from Tore’s farm, the second victim—the suspect’s 17-year-old niece—was discovered. She had a wound on her forehead and a swollen skull. A knife was discovered next to her body, which was covered in tree branches.

The third victim, Masawu, was found interred in a small grave behind the suspect’s residence. He suffered a big incision on his neck and his head was severed.
According to New Zimbabawe, on February 15, villagers allegedly overheard Tore and his wife fighting at their house. On February 16, the second victim was last seen going to the suspect’s farmhouse to watch movies, while Masawu was last seen going there to mediate the conflict.
The police are still looking into it.
