ZACC denies links to fake anti-smuggling operations on highways

ZACC expressed concern about the illegal impersonations and clarified that it is not a part of the operation in a statement released this week.

Under the pretense of executing smuggling rules, the Commission claimed that the individuals are targeting drivers and civilians while falsely posing as its officials.

ZACC denounced the impersonators’ behavior as illegal and cautioned that it compromises legitimate operations and jeopardizes its institutional integrity.

The Commission declared, “These imposters are stealing from Zimbabweans and damaging the reputation of our institution and other legitimate authorities.”

ZACC warned impersonators to cease right now or risk being arrested and prosecuted in accordance with current laws.

On national highways, the Commission advised the public to remain alert and exercise caution when contacted by someone claiming ZACC affiliation.

It urged people to report any suspicious behavior to the appropriate authorities, request official identification, verify credentials, and refuse bribe offers.

ZACC provides contact support and calls for vigilance

ZACC emphasized the public’s role in bringing criminals to light and preserving the integrity of law enforcement and genuine anti-corruption initiatives.

According to Bulawayo24, to assist in confirming the identity of officials in all significant regions of Zimbabwe, the Commission provided the contact information of provincial investigators.

These areas comprise the eastern and western provinces of Mashonaland and Matabeleland, as well as Harare, Bulawayo, the Midlands, Manicaland, and Masvingo.

The Commission’s spokesman, Ms. Simiso Mlevu, is still available and invited the public to ask questions directly.

ZACC ended by restating its commitment to accountability, openness, and the rule of law in the fight against corruption across the country.
