Joseph “Mutangaz” Mutangadura, a prominent businessman in Ruwa, was fatally shot early Monday during a suspected armed robbery at his Lisheen Estate farmhouse, police confirmed.
He owned several businesses including Mutangadura Hideout, a popular leisure hub, multiple butcheries, and livestock and crop operations.

Authorities say seven armed assailants attacked Mutangadura at Lisheen Estate, demanding cash. When he said he had none on hand, explaining that daily takings were locked in the abattoir. The robbers opened fire shooting him in the stomach and chest with more than five rounds before fleeing the scene.
National police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi stated that detectives from the CID Homicide Unit in Harare have been deployed to take over investigations.
Business mogul known across Ruwa
Mutangadura was a household name in Ruwa’s commercial scene. He ran Lisheen Estate’s agricultural operations, the well-loved entertainment spot Mutangadura Hideout, and several butcheries, creating jobs and also serving as a key local employer.
Community mourns as police probe continues
A relative said that the open safe suggests that robbery was a motive: “It’s likely that he was robbed of money because his safe was found open.”
Finally residents and business owners in Ruwa have expressed shock and grief at his death. Meanwhile, police are expected to issue a full statement later Monday.
