A private school in Masvingo has achieved a remarkable feat by scoring a 100 percent pass rate in the 2023 Cambridge ‘A’ level final examinations. A former teacher and businessman opened a Junior High School in 2022 to provide quality education for the nation’s Vision 2030.
A Dream Come True
Mr. Noah Marima, the school’s founder, expressed elation at his students’ performance in various subjects, including Maths, Chemistry, Biology, Physics, and Computer Science. The best student wrote five subjects and attained 24 points, while the second best wrote four subjects and got 18 points.
Mr Marima said he was inspired by his passion for teaching and his desire to contribute to the development of Zimbabwe. He said he invested in the school’s infrastructure, curriculum, and staff to ensure the highest standards of learning.
“I always dreamed of having a school that would produce excellent results and prepare students for the future. I am proud of what we have achieved in such a short time. We will strive to continue to be leaders in academic excellence,” he said.
More Than Just Academics
Junior High School is not only focused on academics but also on developing the skills and talents of its students. The school offers a unique educational program that makes it mandatory for all students to take driving lessons so that they can graduate with a driver’s license and academic certificates.
The school also has a variety of clubs and activities, such as music, drama, sports, and community service, to nurture the students’ creativity, confidence, and social responsibility. Mr Marima said he wanted to produce well-rounded graduates who can compete globally and contribute positively to society.
A Model for Others
The school’s success has attracted attention and praise from various stakeholders, including parents, education officials, and the media. Many have hailed the school as a model for other schools in the country, especially in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, which disrupted the education sector and affected the quality of learning.
In addition, the school has also received recognition from the Cambridge International Examinations board, which awarded it a certificate of excellence for its outstanding performance. Mr John Smith, the board’s regional director, impressed by the school’s achievements, commended its management and staff for their dedication and professionalism.
“We are delighted to see such a high level of achievement from Junior High School. This is a testament to the hard work and commitment of the students, teachers, and school leaders. We congratulate them on their success and wish them all the best for the future,” he said.
However, as the school prepares for the next academic year, Mr Marima has big plans to expand and improve the school’s facilities and services. He said he wants to increase the enrolment, introduce more subjects and courses, and upgrade the technology and equipment.
Mr Marima also said he hopes to inspire other educators and entrepreneurs to invest in the education sector and support the government’s vision of transforming Zimbabwe into an upper-middle-income economy by 2030. He said he believes that education is the key to unlocking the potential of the nation and its people.
“I have a vision of creating a world-class school that will produce the leaders and innovators of tomorrow. I believe that with the right education, anything is possible,” he said.
