Zimbabwe pushes migration and labour policies to grow jobs

In his most recent Workers Day address, President Emmerson Mnangagwa reiterated the administration’s resolve to look for international collaborations and technical know-how to increase the capabilities of the indigenous labor force. In accordance with the National Development Strategy, he underlined the significance of bolstering labor systems.

“To ensure safe, well-coordinated migration while protecting the rights of Zimbabweans working abroad, we are actively implementing the National Labour Migration Policy,” Mnangagwa stated.

He pointed out that rising remittances from the diaspora are a result of the nation’s large investments in producing highly qualified human resources. He went on to say that the administration is prepared to deepen its collaboration with the International Labour Organization and the International Organization for Migration.

“These interactions are crucial to tackling issues related to migration while enhancing conditions in our domestic labor market,” he stated.

Mnangagwa stated that in order to promote economic expansion and job opportunities, Zimbabwe is open to international collaborations, technical assistance, and the sharing of best practices. The administration is still dedicated to incorporating international norms into its national development program, he said.

“We will continue to mainstream important labor issues, such as decent work, occupational health and safety, and social protection, as we move closer to Vision 2030,” he stated.

The National Employment Policy Framework is being reviewed by authorities, the President added. Establishing precise and useful routes for entrepreneurship, enhanced skill development, and job creation across sectors is the goal.

“This review guarantees that we match policy to the demands of our expanding economy and a rapidly changing labor market,” he stated.

Government aims to formalize informal workers and review job policy

According to Zbc news, a thorough formalization strategy will work in tandem with the revised employment framework. By integrating workers from the unorganized sector into the formal economy, this strategy aims to improve economic stability and protection.

He finished by affirming the government’s intention to develop a modern, inclusive work climate that promotes decent livelihoods and national growth.
